Hot Rods Spill Dragons, 5-3
|
The Bowling Green Hot Rods defeated the Dayton Dragons by the score of 5-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to second baseman Jorge Castaneda. Castaneda was 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 for the Hot Rods on the day. Bowling Green reliever Juan Villar picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Dan Hightower was saddled with the loss. Picking up the save was Chris McCloskey, his 1st.
Juan Fernandez delivered a big hit for Bowling Green. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hot Rods ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Castaneda told the Bowling Green Observer. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
With this game in the books, Bowling Green is 24-38, Dayton 26-36.
