The Boston Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees, 6-4, in part because of right fielder Joe Jager. Jager was 2-4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Red Sox. Joe Walker sewed up the save, his 2nd. The win puts the Red Sox at 35-38, while the Yankees drop to 38-36.

Jager contributed in the bottom of the third. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a 2-run triple. It was one at-bat among others that helped Boston get the win.

"They beat us fair and square," New York skipper Robin Hawkins said.
