Lansing Upended, 4-3, by Cedar Rapids
|
Jared Kubik did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Lansing Lugnuts from being beaten, 4-3, to the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Kubik was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Ben Mattingly snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 6 hits over 2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Cedar Rapids is last in the Midwest League Western Division with a record of 18-31.
Sergio Carranza chipped in a 2-run home run for Cedar Rapids in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Carranza. "It sure beats the alternative."
