Velasquez Lifts Cougars to 11-5 Triumph
|
The Kane County Cougars beat the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 11-5, at Bowling Green Ballpark. Jerry Velasquez, in particular, was impressive. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 5. Kane County reliever Ruben Villasenor got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Nate Llewelyn was tagged with the loss. The Cougars now have a record of 25-25.
Early in the game, third baseman Josh Clark had a 2-run double for Kane County. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Cougars on top, 2-0.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Clark told reporters after the game.
