Thomason, Snappers Beat Bees, 7-6
|
The Beloit Snappers knocked off the Burlington Bees, 7-6, at Harry C. Pohlman Field. Alan Thomason was a big reason Beloit won. The center fielder went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Ken Lawrence picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Bubba Killingsworth suffered the loss. Picking up his 1st save was 20-year old left-handed pitcher Victor Pena.
Had Zach DeMeo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, DeMeo hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Snappers.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said DeMeo.
Beloit has a record of 17-27, placing them 7th in the Midwest League Western Division.
