River Bandits Win, 3-0, Extend Streak to 4 Games
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Quad Cities River Bandits and the Peoria Chiefs, Harif Timmons, who leads the MWL in innings pitched with 60.0, proved to be the difference. The Quad Cities left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-0 River Bandits win. Timmons yielded no runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 6-1. Denzel Smith wrapped it up, recording his 10th save.
In the bottom of the fifth, Quad Cities center fielder Steve Bennett had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Bennett stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 1-0, Quad Cities. For the game, he went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Timmons.
Peoria is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 11 in a row.
