Loons Get Past South Bend, 2-1

Conditions were not ideal but Great Lakes and South Bend were able to put their game in the books.
The Loons faced a stiff challenge from South Bend pitcher Angel Plaza, but persevered to claim a win at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium. The final score was 2-1. Plaza went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner was Great Lakes reliever Mike Enriquez, now 4-0. The loser was Sam Tolman.
Had Nate Fuentes not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Fuentes hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Loons.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Fuentes.
At 26-18, Great Lakes is in third place in the Midwest League Eastern Division.
