LumberKings Shut Out River Bandits, 3-0
|
The Clinton LumberKings beat the Quad Cities River Bandits, 3-0, at Modern Woodmen Park. Starting pitcher Wilson Pelayo was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Pelayo, the winner, moves to 3-2. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. The first-place River Bandits now sit at 28-7.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Eric Loos? The Clinton first baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the LumberKings on top, 3-0. For the game, Loos had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Loos.
