The Arizona Diamondbacks topped the Cincinnati Reds, 8-4, in National League action at Great American Ball Park. The standout performance belonged to Arizona pitcher and Boston, Massachusetts, native Mike Pollack. Pollack, the winner, moves to 2-6. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. Arizona is now 29-34, Cincinnati 27-36.

The Diamondbacks got an important contribution from third baseman Chad Johnson, who in the top of the fourth hit a 0-1 fastball to left for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Diamondbacks ahead, 4-0.

"Mike was pumping the zone," said Arizona manager Taylor Updegraff.
