Reds Handle Brewers, 6-5
|
With designated hitter Juan Ripken leading the charge, the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 6-5, at Miller Park. Ripken, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in home runs with 16, belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Dusty Caruso earned the save for Cincinnati, his 17th of the year. The triumph puts Cincinnati at 30-29 for the season.
In the first inning, Ripken had a 2-run home run for Cincinnati. It was his 16th home run of the season and put the Reds on top, 2-0.
"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Ripken. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."
