Cardinals in Free-Fall, Lose, 8-6
|
Springfield first baseman Ricky Moorman was sensational. He was 3-4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Amarillo beat the Cardinals, 8-6. The win belonged to Chad Wolfson in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Marco Lopez took the loss for Springfield. Earning his 27th save for Amarillo was Kevin LePera.
Had Marc Waddell not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Waddell hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Sod Poodles.
"We've got to get out of this funk," said Springfield manager .
Amarillo is 7th in the TX/SL Texas League with a record of 56-82.
