The Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
Texas turned a fine outing from starter Jarrod Coughlin into a victory over the Detroit Tigers at Globe Life Field. The final score was 3-2. Coughlin yielded 2 runs over 5 innings to notch the win. With scoring opportunities rare, the Rangers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the first, when second baseman Ben Gipe hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Phil Fenger and made the score 3-0, Rangers. By defeating Detroit, the third-place Rangers improved to 26-18.
