In a tight tilt between the Tennessee Smokies and the Biloxi Shuckers, Robert Salazar was the deciding factor. The Tennessee right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Tennessee reliever Chris Davis picked up the win to move to 1-3. David Tijerina suffered the loss. The loss makes Biloxi 43-71.

Tennessee used the timely hitting of Jeremy Freese to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Smokies on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We had the right guys up at the right times," said Biloxi manager . "We just didn't cash in."
