Cardinals Suffer 6-0 Home Defeat
|
Jeremy Paine pitched a gem to lead Jacksonville to victory over the Springfield Cardinals, 6-0. In 7 innings, Paine surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. The Jumbo Shrimp lead the TX/SL Southern League by a game.
Joe Hinckley had a big run-scoring double for the Jumbo Shrimp in the top of the first inning. With Jacksonville leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Ricky DiNardo and swatted a double to left. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Jumbo Shrimp ahead, 2-0.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Jacksonville skipper .
