Ridley Bangs Out 5 Base Hits
|
It was a sensational day at the plate for John Ridley as he led the charge to a nifty 17-1 win over the Hooks. The Birmingham second baseman was pure misery for the Corpus Christi pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"Ridley put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said , manager for the Hooks, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
John Ridley hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Nate Phelps in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.
In 23 games this season, Ridley has compiled a .263 batting average with 21 hits and 2 home runs. He has also scored 15 times and knocked in 19 runs.
