Nationals Trip Marlins, 4-3
|
Ricky Frankel, who is tied for 5th in the NL in wins with 4, propelled his team to victory over the Miami Marlins. The final score was 4-3, Washington. Joe Sullivan earned the save for Washington, his 10th. Washington is now 21-16, Miami 17-19.
Mike Culton had a big 2-run home run for the Nationals in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Washington leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a splitter from Jimmy Yepez, who is tied for 7th in the NL in innings pitched with 46.1, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Nationals on top, 4-0.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Frankel told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
