The Midland RockHounds overcame a pretty good performance by Montgomery right fielder Gabe Peters, beating the Biscuits, 5-3, in 10 innings. Peters went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times. Picking up the save was 27-year old right-handed pitcher Johnny Guerra. At 50-45, the RockHounds are currently third in the TX/SL Texas League.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Elijah Poulson? The 21-year old first baseman Poulson stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put Midland up, 4-3. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"When you think about it," Poulson said, "there's often a fine line between triumph and tragedy. One pitch, one swing of the bat can make all the difference."
