Braves Victorious at Lakewood, 6-4
|
Lakewood got a terrific game from right fielder Grant Wight. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Rome, 6-4. Wight went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. The winning pitcher was Nate Bohannon. He tossed 84 pitches over 5.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits. Josh Mulherin was called on to finish, recording his 13th save.
In the top of the fifth, Chris Daigle delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Rome left fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Braves in front, 6-4.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Daigle told the Rome Herald.
Rome, at 76-59, sits in third place in the South Atlantic League Southern Division.
