Suns Use Late Push to Top BlueClaws
|
Lakewood got a terrific game from center fielder Chris Causey. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Hagerstown, 8-6. Causey went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The last-place BlueClaws dropped to 44-87.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Jamie Paulat came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Lakewood pitcher Tadayuki Handa, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Hagerstown on top, 7-6.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Paulat. "And not try to do too much."
