Crawdads Defeat Fireflies, 11-10
|
Columbia got a terrific game from designated hitter Danny Spero. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Hickory, 11-10, in 13 innings. Spero was 2 for 7 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. Hickory reliever Trey Russell picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Greg Morrill was saddled with the loss. After today's action, Hickory sits at 56-70, while Columbia falls to 46-80.
The Crawdads got a clutch hit from right fielder Nick Carcache. In the bottom of the 13th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Crawdads.
"Now that's what I call an exciting game," said Crawdads manager .
