The exploits of left fielder Frank Ruiz, who leads the SAL in triples with 7, helped the Delmarva Shorebirds defeat the Hickory Crawdads, 8-0. Ruiz went 3-5 with a triple and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs. Delmarva reliever Tim Levitt was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-0. Angel Murillo took the loss for Hickory. Joe Rivera earned the save for Delmarva.

Delmarva used the clutch hitting of Victor Romero to snag the win. The center fielder drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Shorebirds ahead, 6-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

Said losing manager : "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."

The 'W' lifts Delmarva's record to 51-73.
