Despite a fine performance by third baseman Emmanuel Della Mea, the Lakewood BlueClaws lost to the West Virginia Power, 5-4. Della Mea went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times. West Virginia goes to 54-71, Lakewood to 43-82.

Mike Boyd came through with a big-time hit for West Virginia. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We found a way to get it done," Boyd said.
