The Asheville Tourists topped the Columbia Fireflies by a score of 9-2. Leading the way was second baseman Brad McMenemy. McMenemy went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Tourists. Jesus Bernal, the winning pitcher, improved to 9-4. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 7 hits and 1 run, while striking out 1 and walking 1. The Tourists have an impressive 71-45 record.

Jeremy Peoples had a big 2-run double for the Tourists in the top of the fourth inning. With Asheville leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Jamie Schrade and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tourists ahead, 4-1.

"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Peoples.
