Twins Hold Off Rangers, 3-2
|
The Minnesota Twins rode a solid performance from 23-year-old starting pitcher Phil Maida to a win, beating the Texas Rangers, 3-2, at Richter Field. The Twins go to 17-17, putting them second in the American League Central Division.
The Twins got a big at-bat from first baseman Cândido Custance. For the game, Custance went 1-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 10th double of the season gave Minnesota a 3-1 lead.
"Well, it's always frustrating to lose," said Texas manager Nate Reichard.
