Twins Held in Check by Rangers, Lose, 3-1
|
Texas beat Minnesota in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The Texas Rangers earned a close win over the Minnesota Twins, thanks in part to Sid Harris. The Texas right-hander, who is tied for 9th in the AL in wins with 3, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. By defeating Minnesota, the third-place Rangers improved to 20-14.
Texas used a clutch at-bat from Tim Holdren to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Sid made some big pitches when he needed to," said Rangers manager Nate Reichard.
