West Virginia Earn 2-1 Victory at L.P. Frans Stadium
|
The West Virginia Power picked up a win at L.P. Frans Stadium, courtesy of Bob Herbers. The right-hander helped his team stop the Hickory Crawdads, 2-1. Herbers got the win, improving to 3-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. Elliot Boyle picked up his 3rd save of the season.
West Virginia used the hitting of Jim Geiger to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Power on top, 2-0. For the game, Geiger had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"That's baseball," said Hickory manager . "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
West Virginia, at 21-23, sits in third place in the South Atlantic League Northern Division.
