The Greensboro Grasshoppers dealt the Rome Braves a 5-3 loss at State Mutual Stadium. Mike Hoover was the star on offense. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The Grasshoppers, now 26-10, have won 5 in a row.

Greensboro used the timely hitting of Kevin Struthers to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Grasshoppers on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
