Chattanooga Lookouts starter Jon Oliverio pitched his team past the Montgomery Biscuits, 2-1. Oliverio got the win, improving to 5-5. He gave up 8 hits and walked 0 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. With the victory, the Lookouts record stands at 37-53.
With runs few and far between, the Lookouts had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Chattanooga came in the top of the first inning, when 23-year old catcher Mike Richards delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Mike Cross and made the score 2-0, Lookouts. Richards was 1-4.
Richards attributed the triumph to "a good team effort."
