Lona Skunks Air Marshals
Thursday, October 18th , 1906
All went well for Andrónico Lona of the Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants as he pitched his team to a shutout victory, 1-0, over the Nipissing Air Marshals, limiting them to 4 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Lona on the day.
"Andrónico's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Sleeping Giants manager Ignacio López. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Thunder Bay right-hander rang up 6 and surrendered 1 walk.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Air Marshals manager Fulgencio Aguilar. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
Over the season Lona has thrown 234.1 innings and dished out 97 strikeouts with a 10-18 mark and a 4.34 ERA.
