Richards Honored, 1903 LBQ Governor-General's Award (RCBL)

Herman Richards said he felt great coming into this year and expected a productive campaign.
But did the Sherbrooke Privateers right fielder ever anticipate being named the winner of the 1903 Ligue du Baseball du Quebec Governor-General's Award (RCBL)?
"Not a chance, I'm 36 years old, not exactly a spring chicken out there," he said. "I always felt I had a season like this in me, but still a surprise when it happens."
On the year, Herman Richards posted a .259 batting average and a .347 on-base percentage. In 114 games he piled up 113 hits, 4 doubles, 8 triples, 49 home runs, 106 RBIs and 112 runs scored.
He received 20 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Bill Sarazin of the Levis Fourches finished second in voting, while Dave Rafuse of the Levis Fourches finished third.
