Party's Over: Jayne Retires in Campeche Monday, July 30th , 1906 Campeche Corsarios officials flanked Don Jayne as he announced his retirement from pro baseball today. Rumors have had him on the verge of retirement since late last week but were not confirmed until today. "I want to leave the game the way I came into it," said Jayne. "I don't want to become an embarrassment to myself and the team." Jayne has a lifetime .258 average with 597 hits, 80 doubles, 32 triples, 4 home runs and 215 RBIs to date. |
