It was a dream season for Jairo Canseco of Ciudad Mexico Volcanes. He pitched his way to a 21-11 record and carted off the 1903 Sur Excelentísimo (LNM).

Working 300.2 innings this year, Canseco made 33 starts, struck out 145 and crafted a 1.26 ERA. He gave up 184 hits and 32 walks and limited other teams to a .170 average.

He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Roodan Keay of the Chetumal Mayas finished second in voting, while Tomás López of the Veracruz Vigias finished third.
