Wednesday, August 29th , 1906
In a very sharp performance at National League Park 1895-1909, Bob Black of the Philadelphia Phillies blanked the Chicago Orphans, 1-0. He permitted 6 hits and finished with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in the Phillies victory.
"Bob goes out there and just goes about his business," Phillies manager Matthew Goforth said in his postgame press conference. "I don't think he gets too concerned about what's going on. No matter the pitch, you know he's going to be where he needs to be."
This season, Black has compiled a 22-8 mark, 2.07 ERA and made 33 starts.
