Lou Bierbauer Leaving Baseball

Baseball News Network is reporting that Lou Bierbauer will be retiring at season's end.
The 36-year-old Louisville Colonels second baseman could not be reached for comment, but BNN said the organization has confirmed the player's intentions.

Groves Magnificent in 4-0 Chicago Triumph
Thursday, August 9th , 1906
Frank Groves scattered 6 hits over 9 innings, going the distance in the Chicago Orphans 4-0 victory over the Kansas City Scouts at Kansas City Stadium. The 32-year-old Groves whiffed 10 and issued 2 walks.
"Not perfect today, but I'll definitely take it," Groves said. "I made a couple mistakes but thankfully they didn't get all of them and the guys behind me cleaned things up."
In 30 starts this season, Groves has registered a 20-7 record and a 2.07 ERA.

Baltimore Orioles Will Miss Playoffs Yet Again

For the 5th straight year, Baltimore Orioles fans will not get to see their favorite team in the playoffs.
"At some point," said long-time season ticket holder Greg Hopkins, "ownership needs to make a change at the GM and manager position. I'm not even sure I will be purchasing season tickets again next year."
Currently sitting in 5th place in the Eastern League with a record of 54-65, the Orioles will clearly have to do better next year. It will be interesting to see if any management shakeups occur during the coming offseason.
