Pirates, Swaim Blank Senators
Thursday, August 20th , 1903
Fans at Exposition Park 1891-1908 witnessed the Pittsburgh Pirates blank the Washington Senators, 6-0, on the strength of a superb effort from starter Cy Swaim. The Pittsburgh right-hander allowed 5 hits in recording the shutout.

"Cy was good today, but I don't want to focus too much on a single game," Pittsburgh manager Bill Leisz said. "If you're capable of playing at this level, you're capable of having a good game. The real question is if you can learn from that game and repeat it."

For the year, Swaim has a 9-9 record with a 2.00 ERA in 18 starts.
