Mullin Bewilders Pirates in 3-0 Shutout

In a remarkable performance, Cincinnati Reds starter George Mullin beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 3-0, in an impressive 1-hit shutout.
"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."
The Reds hurler finished with 1 strikeout and no walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
"It was a rough one for my guys," Pittsburgh manager Bill Leisz said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
This season, Mullin has a 7-7 mark in 13 starts with a 2.71 ERA. He has given up 102 hits in 119.2 innings, struck out 37 and issued 17 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .222 batting average against him.
