He may have less experience than most of his Copa Mundial peers, but that didn't slow Albán López down at all in 1906.
At the age of 18, the Puerto Rico second baseman has been named the winner of the Copa Mundial Jugador Ilustrísimo (COPMUN).
He had a .485 batting average and a .537 on-base percentage this year. In 9 games he piled up 16 hits, 3 doubles, 2 triples, no home runs, 13 RBIs and 9 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 16 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Charles Wilson of the England Roses finished second in voting, while Teferi Adel of the Arabia Sultans finished third.
