Skidding Hammers Lose 6th Straight
|
Pickering and Hamilton duked it out and the Bonebreakers came out victorious.
The Pickering Bonebreakers locked up a win at Hamilton Stadium, knocking off the Hamilton Hammers, 3-1. On the mound for Pickering was right-hander Iapeto Martínez. He played a major role in the triumph. Martínez got the win, improving to 5-2. He gave up 8 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 22-year old shortstop Nicky Hughes. Hughes had a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bonebreakers ahead, 3-1. For the game, Hughes had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I had everything working," said Martínez.
The Hammers fall to 6-12.
