Tomás Contreras was instrumental in his team's 6-3 triumph over the Chiapas Quetzales. The shortstop was 2 for 3 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs for the Veracruz Vigias. Veracruz pitcher Leonel Torres got the win, upping his record to 10-18. Teucro Díaz got the loss. At 45-74, the Vigias are currently last in the Sur.
The Vigias got an important contribution from first baseman Juvenal Palomino, who in the bottom of the third hit a first pitch sinker to right-center for a run-scoring triple. It was his 5th triple of the season and put the Vigias ahead, 2-0.
"It never gets old," said Palomino. "Winning, that is."
