Calaveras Get Hard-Earned Win, Stop Volcanes, 5-4

Estadio Federal was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Michoacan Calaveras and Ciudad Mexico Volcanes.
Ciudad Mexico got a decent performance from pitcher Jairo Canseco, but it wasn't enough to beat the Michoacan Calaveras. Michoacan won the Estadio Federal contest, 5-4. Canseco threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. Pablo Nazario earned the win. Jairo Canseco, who is tied for 3rd in the LS in strikeouts with 122, took the loss for Ciudad Mexico.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the ninth, with the game tied, José Torres was at the plate when Michoacan scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Calaveras to go in front, 5-4.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Torres told the Michoacan Times. "But we take nothing for granted."
The Calaveras sit in 7th place in the Sur with a record of 36-45.
