Quetzales Squeeze By Veracruz, 2-1
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Chiapas Quetzales and the Veracruz Vigias. Chiapas won it, 2-1. Chiapas starter Adelio Guerrero was in command. The Quetzales saw their win-loss record go to 26-29. At the same time, the Vigias fell to 25-30.
Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 23-year old third baseman Josías Rodríguez had a chance to be the hero. Veracruz pitcher Salomón Portillo wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Rodríguez hit a sacrifice fly. The Quetzales had themselves a thrilling win.
"Adelio is a gamer," said Chiapas manager Martín Andrade.
