Toluca and Veracruz put this game in the books despite some rain.

The Toluca Chorizos used the hitting of shortstop Procopio Zegarra to subdue the Veracruz Vigias, 12-7. For the game, Zegarra went 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. José Chora earned the win to go to 8-0. He allowed 7 runs on 12 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts in 7.2 innings of work.

The Chorizos got a lift from center fielder Rafael Duarte, who in the top of the second stroked a 0-2 fastball to center for a 2-run single. It was his 30th hit of the season and put the Chorizos ahead, 5-1.

Chorizos manager Alonso Briseño wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."

The triumph puts Toluca at 15-15 for the season.
