Carboneros Lasso 3-1 Victory
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Coahuila Carboneros and the Nuevo Laredo Colibris, 37-year old right-handed pitcher Timoteo Reyes was the difference-maker. The Coahuila right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. In 8.1 innings, Reyes surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 5. He allowed 1 run. The Carboneros, now 17-7, have hit the ground running this season.
Coahuila used a well-timed hit by Almandeto Contreras to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Carboneros ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Coahuila manager Esteban Bellán said.
