Conditions were not ideal but Holguin and Las Tunas were able to put their game in the books.

The Holguin Pericos used the hitting of center fielder Pablo Niño to subdue the Las Tunas Escultores, 9-2. For the game, Niño was 3 for 5 with 2 triples and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Arthur Paterson picked up the save, his 1st.

With Holguin leading 2-1 in the top of the sixth, Niño hit a cutter from Natán Rivera for a 2-run double. It was his 23rd double of the season and put the Pericos ahead, 4-1.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Niño said in reaction to the win.

At 43-33, Holguin is in first place in the Torneo Oriental Santiago de Cuba.
