Matanzas beat Habana at Campo de Matanzas, escaping with a 7-6 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Jorge Sánchez. He went 2-2 with 2 doubles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Matanzas pitcher Darío García got the win, upping his record to 9-5. Thomas Gonzalez got the loss. Hestio Martínez notched his 7th save of the season.

The Henequeneros got a big at-bat from center fielder Abejundio Ríos. For the game, Ríos went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Matanzas a 7-4 lead.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Sánchez.

At 36-33, Matanzas is in second place in the Torneo Occidental Matanzas.
