Monjes Grises Lose, 4-1, as Escultores Rally
|
At El Monasterio, the Ciego de Avila Monjes Grises and Las Tunas Escultores were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Ryan Joseph, who is tied for 6th in the TORI in strikeouts with 52, never let the Monjes Grises get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his sinker, to pitch the Escultores to a win, 4-1. After today's action, Las Tunas sits at 32-34; Ciego de Avila slips to 33-32.
Las Tunas used the timely hitting of Carmelo Quiz to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Escultores on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll pocket this win," said Quiz, "and then go after another."
