The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.

In a close game at Estadio de Santa Clara, the Matanzas Henequeneros edged the Santa Clara Leopardos, 4-3. Matanzas left fielder Jorge Sánchez stood apart with his performance. He was 3 for 4 with a triple and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Matanzas is second in the Torneo Occidental Matanzas with a record of 29-28.

Had Sánchez not come through in the top of the eighth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Sánchez hit a run-scoring double. The Henequeneros took the lead, 4-3, and never looked back.

"I like what I saw today," said Matanzas manager Matthis Rey, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
