Tabacaleros Get Clutch Win, 7-6
|
The Trinidad Tabacaleros and Holguin Pericos completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The Trinidad Tabacaleros topped the Holguin Pericos, 7-6, in Torneo Oriental action at Campo de los Tabacaleros. The standout performance belonged to Trinidad pitcher and Bayamón, Puerto Rico, native Adelio Rojas. Trinidad reliever Casiodoro Herrera picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Bill Allan took the loss. Adrián Muñoz recorded the save for Trinidad, his 1st of the season.
Had René Félix not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Félix hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Tabacaleros.
"It feels good to get this one," Félix told the Trinidad News.
The loss drops the Pericos to 8-10.
