Fernando Jaramillo led Holguin to a win over Trinidad. The final score was 6-3. Jaramillo scored 2 times, while going 3 for 4. The shortstop also was credited with 1 run batted in. Atilano Castaño, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-0. He pitched 8.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Demetrio Briones closed it out for Holguin, earning his 3rd save.
Huáscar Angulo had a big 2-run double for the Pericos in the bottom of the third inning. With Holguin leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from 1901 Excelentísimo (LBPC) winner Noé Valerio and swatted a double to center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pericos ahead, 4-0.
"The guys are feeling pretty good about where they're at right now," said Pericos manager Alcides Hernández. "We have a lot of guys playing with confidence."
The Pericos, now 10-1, have had a terrific start to the season.
