Beaneaters Lose 3-2 Decision to Philadelphia
Philadelphia starter Al Orth pitched well against the Boston Beaneaters at National League Park 1895-1909. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. Orth got the win, improving to 6-2. He gave up 5 hits and walked 3 over 9 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The first-place Phillies sport a record of 45-25.

There was more than one reason the Phillies beat the Beaneaters, but Orth's big at-bat in the bottom of the fourth was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-1 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.

"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Orth.
