Philadelphia Makes It 6 Straight with 6-5 Win
Both teams had their chances, but the Philadelphia Phillies eventually prevailed.

Washington wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Joe Corbett, falling to the Philadelphia Phillies, 6-5. Corbett threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Philadelphia pitcher Bob Black earned the win, hiking his record to 11-4. Joe Corbett suffered the loss. Jesse Frymire was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities.

Philadelphia used a timely hit from Elmer Flick to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Phillies ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"There's so many different ways you can win a game," said winning manager Matthew Goforth.

Philadelphia is now 37-24.
